"Sustainability at the Heart of Cocoa"

Building a climate-smart, zero-waste, and eco-friendly cocoa enterprise.

At Avant-Garde Cocoa Plantation, sustainability is more than a principle — it is the foundation of everything we do. From the way we design our farms to how we process cocoa, we are building a climate-smart, zero-waste, and environmentally responsible cocoa enterprise. Our goal is to demonstrate that large-scale cocoa production can be both commercially viable and environmentally regenerative, creating long-term value for people and planet.

Here's how we put sustainability into action

Agroforestry Cocoa Farming:

Farming in Harmony with Nature

We embrace agroforestry as the backbone of our cocoa system. By integrating shade and barrier trees with cocoa, we ensure ecological balance, soil health, and long-term resilience.

Permanent Shade Trees
Each hectare hosts 40+ indigenous tree crops (such as odum and ofram) that provide long-term canopy cover, enhance biodiversity, and sequester carbon.

Temporary Shade Trees
Over 1,000 plantain trees per hectare as shelter for young cocoa seedlings.

Barrier Crops
170+ perimeter crops (including coconut, citrus, oil palm) are planted around each plot to interfere with the natural movement patterns of insect pests, limiting cross-infestation.

Climate-Smart Irrigation:

Every Drop Counts, Every Tree Thrives

Water is life for cocoa. To ensure year-round productivity and climate resilience, our plantations are equipped with:

Avant-Garde

Drip irrigation, sprinkler hose systems, and overhead sprinklers for precise water delivery.

Avant-Garde

Efficient water-use systems that reduce waste and safeguard against rainfall variability.

Avant-Garde

Zero-Waste Cocoa:

Nothing Wasted, Everything Transformed

At Avant-Garde, cocoa is more than beans — every part of the husk is given new life.

Cocoa husk
Cocoa husk are processed into organic fertilizer, soap, biochar, and biomass fuel.

Cocoa sweatings
Cocoa sweatings are processed into natural juices and sweeteners. This circular farming model eliminates waste, creates new revenue streams, and supports a greener future.

Traceability & Transparency:

From seed to shelf, every bean accounted for

We are committed to ensuring that every bean is traceable from seedling to finished product.

Advanced digital traceability systems
Advanced digital traceability systems will capture real-time data on farming, harvesting, and processing.

Guaranteed accountability
This guarantees accountability, builds consumer trust, and ensures compliance with international sustainability standards.

Environmental
& Ecological Stewardship:

Protecting Nature, Preserving Cocoa

Healthy cocoa depends on a healthy ecosystem. Our ecological safeguards include:

Integrated pest management
Integrated pest management with biological controls to reduce chemical dependence.

Coconut barriers
Coconut barriers to block pest movement and improve biosecurity.

Biodiversity corridors
Biodiversity corridors that combine cocoa with tree crops, supporting pollinators and soil health.

Socio-Economic Sustainability:

Growing Cocoa, Growing Communities

We believe cocoa should benefit people as much as it benefits markets.

Employment opportunities
Our plantations create inclusive employment opportunities across farming, processing, and logistics.

Strengthen Ghana’s agro-industrial base
By producing finished products such as chocolates and confectionery, we add value locally, strengthen Ghana’s agro-industrial base, and create wealth that stays in our communities.

With traceability, Avant-Garde Cocoa Plantation ensures not only sustainable practices but also full transparency and trust for partners, regulators, and consumers worldwide.
